Working on the Valve cover

Text Box: Valve covers should be unique and I figured to give mine a fine smooth finish with some color added.

Text Box: I find removing paint is not an easy job. I used a brass wire brush to get most of the paint off. Then some different grits of sand paper and steel wool to get the effect I was looking for.

Text Box: Once I got the paint off on the parts I want to shine I masked off the letters with scotch tape then painters tape. then trim out the letters with an exacto blade so I could fill the letters with the new paint.
Text Box: I then masked off some more and painted the center alley and front to match.
Text Box: Here the paint has dried, I cleaned up around the letters. Still a bit of work to be done. I put about 10 coats of paint in the letters. I wanted them to be smooth with the top of the cover but it was taking way to long with all the coats. so I think it still looks cool as the paint goes up the sides to the top.
